Project Interfaith's Annual Interfaith Architecture Tour
This year's theme: Historic Places of Worship in North Omaha
Meet at St. John AME Church
Check-in begins at 1:00 pm, Tour begins at 1:30 pm
Spend an afternoon exploring the important role that places of worship have played in the past and present for North Omaha, an area of historical and cultural richness and the traditional center of Omaha's African American community. Then, tour two distinct examples of this: St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, the first congregation in Nebraska for African Americans, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church (2207 Wirt Street).
The afternoon will conclude with a community reception hosted by Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
This program is open to the public. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as space is limited. Architects may receive learning units from the American Insitute of Architects (AIA) for attending this program.
This program is co-sponsored by St. John AME Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of Omaha, and the American Institute of Architects- Omaha Chapter.
